“Let's go for a walk!”

Dogs on the Move (DotM) is a physical activity program for dogs and their owners.  All participants will receive an activity starter kit containing etiquette, safety, and health-related information for walking dogs.   Included in the kit is a blank map of Gaston County with 365 squares -  every ten minutes you walk with your dog, fill in a square.  All dogs who complete all 365 squares will receive an official DotM completion certificate.

If you are interested in participating, please complete a Dogs on the Move sign-up form.  One form is needed per dog; all family members can help a dog earn its completion certificate.  Return this form via email to LaVerne Partlow, Coordinator, or send it via postal service to Gaston County Health Department, 991 W. Hudson Blvd.  Gastonia, NC  28052.

Dogs on the Move t-shirts are also for sale for $8.00 each from Adult Small to XXL.  If you would like to order a t-shirt complete the order form (it is in PDF format) and send it, along with your check,  to LaVerne Partlow, Gaston County Health Department,  991 W. Hudson Blvd. Gastonia, NC  28052.

"Of course what he most intensely dreams of is being taken out on walks, and the more you are able to indulge him the more will he adore you and the more all the latent beauty of his nature will come out." - Henry James on his dog Max

If I sit down on a bench he is at my side at once and takes up a position on one of my feet.  For it is a law of his being that he only runs about when I am in motion too; that when I settle down he follows suit." - Thomas Mann from "A Man and His Dog"

"He is your friend, your partner, your defender, your dog.  You are his life, his love, his leader.  He will be yours, faithful and true, to the last beat of his heart.  You owe it to him to be worthy of such devotion." - Unknown
