Creating a healthy future for Gaston County
Welcome

Welcome to the Gaston Community Healthcare Commission (GCHC) website.  We are pleased to be able to offer this healthcare information to our community.  You will find information on specific GCHC Project Groups and special initiatives. In addition, some general healthcare information is also available. This site is made possible through Healthy Carolinian funding.

GCHC participates in the 2008 Health Fair Sponsored by CaroMont Health

Several Project Groups attended the health fair including Safe Kids Coalition, Fitness and Nutrition Council, and Community Wellness Education (CWE).    CWE had an interactive booth with lots of information about prescription drug abuse and ways to manage stress without medication.  Their theme, "Follow Your Prescription," gave away lots of free literature, stree meter cards and pencils and books about stress management.  Students from Gaston College in collaboration with CWE offered free massages to the public.

The GCHC, in partnership with the Kate B. Reynolds Charitable Trust, takes great pride in bringing to the citizens of our community this valuable medical reference guide available in both English and Spanish.

The use of this guide can help the user make decisions about their health care including when and how it is appropriate to care for oneself, call the doctor, or go to the emergency room.
